About Marie-Kristin Friedow (born in Frankfurt Germany 27-Aug-1991, died on 25-Apr-2010)
Marie-Kristin (or Marie how most of the people in America called her) loved nature and especially animals. She did not care a lot about fashion and trends, but had her own style. Her dress she was planning to wear on the prom was a 2nd hand, old fashioned, beautiful dress. Another example is the dress on the picture. Her posting it on-line was followed by following dialog:"My wedding dress. Yeah, no kidding. I'm going to get married in this dress." "was this your mom's dress? and you have to wear this when YOU get married?? " "Yes, and not HAVE to, but I want to. It is the awesomest, most flattering dress I've ever worn. ♥ " She loved to help other people and lived her live with passion. While others have convictions and principles about a lot of things, Marie-Kristin lived them and expressed them. She believed that most animals harvested for meat were not treated well and therefore became a vegetarian. She was an active and committed member in a group called Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) because she believed it is the right thing to do. Even if that meant that she had to step out of a safe comfort zone. Just a couple weeks before she died, she went on a mission trip to Houma in Louisiana to help rebuilding houses damaged by hurricanes. She knew only one person (her dad) when she drove there, but came back with a lot of new friends. She took the people around her the way they were and did not try to change them. With all their human flaws and mistakes. She had the ability to see when other people needed someone to talk to. And she could listen and say something nice and helpful which gave them hope and self confidence. She loved to read and write and had a way with words. (check it out in the WRITTEN DOWN section) She had plans to study brain physiology to understand how to develop medications for people with mental illnesses.
